Environmental protection is one of the most important tasks of our time.
We can only survive in a sound environment. Our mining activities substantially interfere with the natural environment that surrounds us. Hence, the sustainable development of our group of companies requires well-balanced consideration of the three dimensions
- economic performance
- social responsibility
- effective environmental protection
Integrating mining facilities into the environment and restoring former extraction areas to an ecologically sound state is a matter of course in our modern society and an obligation for our company. With our environmental statement we document the current environmental situation at our Langendernbach, Maienburg/Winkels and Sedan sites and inform the public of programmes and measures geared to protecting our natural surroundings and alleviating the effects of our activities on the environment.
This environmental statement is in accordance with directive (EG) No. 761/2001, issued by the European Parliament and Council on the 19th March, 2001, on the voluntary participation of organisations in a community system for environmental management and eco-audit.
It was drawn up to inform the interested public, in a concise and comprehensible manner, about our company’s pertinent activities at the participating sites and their respective environmental aspects. It documents the environmental policy of the company and promotes the ecological awareness on the part of our staff.
